Making money from home has lots of challenges, despite the huge number of benefits. It is already superfluous to write anything more on how to make money from home, particularly in the context of the thousands of materials written on the topic. Self-employment difficulties carry a high significance, yet they are not so widely discussed, as people want to learn how to get rich ignoring that once they get to a certain wealth level, they also have to maintain it.

With self-employed workers, social security benefits and health insurance are major issues. The value of the premiums is usually lower when the health insurance contract is signed between an insurance company and a large corporation, which makes insurance packages more affordable. Making money at home does bring flexibility, independence and the chance to take management decisions freely, yet, there are expenses that cannot be ignored. Statistics indicate that a home worker spends more on health insurance and social security than a regular employee.

One other downside to making money from home is overburdening. The explanation here is very simple: when you earn your living independently, you can hardly afford to miss work days. Free days to go on holiday will thus reduce the revenue you make per month. It all depends on the nature of your activity. Moreover, it will be hard to pay the annual leave without an employer paying for it.

Before entering a home-based business, it is not a bad idea to try and keep you full time job and run the extra activity in parallel. You can thus understand whether independent work can cover your living expenses and allow you for a decent existence. Many people don’t even know how much they can find out during the first stages of business growth. This is the time of major decisions, time to target a market and to define your objectives.

Results could take you by surprise. Money loss or failure is actually more frequent than profit. Don’t go for speculative businesses because you can lose money and go bankrupt. Surveys, games, product trials and drug testing are just pseudo-sources of money. Do not put your hope into them.
